Student feed back on feedback

With the post Christmas marking being handed out students were asked by progress tutors to complete a questionnaire on assessment feedback (built on a Google Form).  course reports have previously suggested to that students would like to see improvements to assessment feedback so alongside a blank version of our generic feedback sheet students were provided with a range of tools to report their opinions. The tools provided included a shortened url (http://goo.gl/NuXEa) , a QR code, paper versions of the questionnaire and blank sheets of paper in order let learners decide on their preferred format of form should they wish.

The feedback submissions have made for interesting reading and shortened summary is that;

  • students do read their feedback,
  • they don’t feel they lose their sheets often,
  • they are pretty happy with the quality of the feedback provided by the FE team,
  • and they don’t see a great need to have the resource delivered online.

Free text comments seem to support this summary, and highlighted the need for clearer, bolder identification of unit names and numbers and perhaps the inclusion of colour coding to highlight Pass or Fail in the overall grade; although there were for’s and against’s on this.

The next step on this process is to incorporate the student recommendations into the work done so far.
