Google for Education – Gemini and Notebook licence

Google for Education logo

As we prepare for the new academic year at Loughborough College Group, we are thrilled to announce a major new addition to our digital toolkit.

We have just secured a new Google Workspace for Education license, giving all staff secure, enterprise-level access to Google Gemini and Gemini Notebook (previously NotebookLM).

As this is managed under our college license, your data stays within our organisation and isn’t used to train public AI models.

Gemini and Notebook

Whether you’re teaching in the classroom or supporting our learners and colleagues behind the scenes, these tools can help you work more efficiently and save valuable time.

Gemini logo

Google Gemini: Think of this as your everyday AI assistant, similar to Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT. It can help with everyday tasks such as creating content, planning lessons, summarising documents, generating ideas, preparing reports, and analysing data. Whether you’re starting from scratch or refining existing work, Gemini can help you work more efficiently.

Gemini Notebook logo

Gemini Notebook: Formerly NotebookLM, this is an incredible tool for deep research, resource building, and document analysis. You can upload your own documents and use AI to analyse, summarise, and explore them. It’s ideal for research, resource creation, document review, study guides, and turning complex information into actionable insights.

How to Access

We’ve linked our Google Workspace for Education to our Microsoft 365 system. This means you can log in using your standard college Microsoft credentials via Single Sign-On (SSO).

To get started:

  1. Navigate to either gemini.google.com or notebooklm.google.com.
  2. Select Sign In.
  3. Enter your College email address and select the Next button.
  4. Choose an account: select Google Workspace account.
  5. You will be redirected to our familiar Microsoft 365 sign-in page.
  6. Enter your college email and password and complete your multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  7. You will then be redirected back to Gemini or Notebook and can begin exploring.

Why not take some time to explore the platforms and see how they can streamline your workload, or find clever ways to use Gemini Notebook for teaching and learning.

What about the students? Student access is coming soon! We are rolling this out to staff first, so you have time to experiment, build resources, and get comfortable with the tools before we open the doors for our learners.
