Quick Glance – The LearnZone BLC Plugin for Further Education

About the Blended Learning Consortium (BLC)

The Blended Learning Consortium provides a raft of interactive materials across a wide range of subject areas. The materials that have been developed are aligned to the levels of the course, and the needs of the subject. Using the BLC plugin will allow you to easily cherry-pick the most suitable learning package to suit your requirements.

Using the LearnZone BLC Plugin

Adding resources to your LearnZone page using the BLC plugin couldn’t be easier. The plugin will add a SCORM interactive lesson as well as its content in an accessible word document. Watch this Quick Glance video to learn more about how to import BLC content into your LearnZone course.

Each year, the BLC develops and releases new interactive e-learning content based on the votes of its members. New materials currently under development are:

  • Access to HE L3
  • Access to Nursing
  • Business L3
  • Childcare L2
  • Electrical Installation L2
  • Motor Vehicle L3

As new content is released the Digital Learning team will notify the curriculum so that you can add any relevant new materials. Alternatively, you can keep up to date by signing up to the BLC VLE to get the latest news.

Signing up with the BLC

As a BLC member, you can also sign up to https://blc.howcollege.ac.uk/ to see the latest BLC news and preview materials. When you try to view a resource you will be prompted to log in or you can click login in the top right of the screen. If you don’t already have an account you can then use the ‘Create new account’ button and complete the sign up form. You can only sign up using your Loughborough college email when creating a new account. Once you complete this form, an email will be sent to your address containing easy instructions to complete your registration.

*It is important to note that you do not need to sign up with the BLC to use the BLC plugin and add BLC content to your LearnZone course.

We were fortunate that Amy Hollier from the BLC was able to host a session on the EdTech Summit where she talked about how can you effectively structure blended learning as part of our EdTech Summit at the beginning of this month.
