In a flurry of pick and mix and fairground music, Loughborough College’s 1st Technology Celebration Day was launched on the 17th October 2014, by Vice Principal Yiannis Koursis.
The day was intended to provide a day of informal sharing, showcase ways of how to create impact with technology, to see how tutors are already using technology to engage students and to have some fun.
Paul McKean, FE and skills customer advocate from Jisc, inspired us in his keynote to rethink what we do with technology for teaching and learning and what student’s current expectations are. Watch Paul’s full presentation here.
The fairground stalls were hosted by our curriculum staff who are already using specific technologies and staff could drop in and out of these areas and get hints, tips and ideas on how to integrate these into their curriculum. The full list of stalls that were available on the day can be seen here.
The day was nicely covered by Laura Brodrick who sketched and captured thoughts and ideas in the keynote and from staff. Watch the sketchnote develop here.
All in all, a great day was had by all. The feedback we have had so far indicates that staff were truly inspired by the day and are actively using the tools they saw on the day – more impact details to follow…..
