Canva have just launched the “Podcast in your pocket resource

With Canva for Education, students can now design and produce their own podcasts with ease. This hands-on approach not only strengthens writing skills but also nurtures a genuine love for storytelling. Most importantly, it empowers learners to share their unique voices and perspectives in a dynamic, modern medium.

Podcasting as an Assessment Tool

Podcasting offers a dynamic alternative to traditional written assessments. Instead of submitting essays or reports, students can demonstrate their understanding through spoken narratives, interviews, or discussions. This approach allows educators to assess:

  • Knowledge and Understanding: Students explain concepts in their own words, showing depth of comprehension.
  • Critical Thinking: Through analysis, debate, or storytelling, learners showcase their ability to evaluate and synthesise ideas.
  • Communication Skills: Podcasts assess clarity, tone, and audience awareness, key employability skills.
  • Creativity and Engagement: Students can incorporate sound effects, music, and structure to make their content compelling.

Podcasts also provide an inclusive option for learners who excel verbally rather than in writing.
