Turnitin Update

Turnitin is finally coming to Microsoft Teams! Furthermore, Turnitin has updated its interface and features in LearnZone. These updates will become available on both Teams and LearnZone as part of rollover during CPD week, Wednesday 2nd to Friday 4th July.

Because of these changes, we urge all staff NOT to create Turnitin assignments for the next academic year until after the update.

Turnitin in Teams

After rollover, you will be able to add the Turnitin app to your Teams Classes. Departments that are following Model 2: TeamsĀ as their main teaching platform will move to Teams for their summative assessments. LearnZone pages will not be rolled over for these Departments.

Turnitin can be added as a “Tab” at the top of the “General” or primary channel. From there, teachers can create assignments, view and edit previously created ones, as well as mark student submissions.

Turnitin on LearnZone

Turnitin on LearnZone has received some big changes to its look and available features, including a new, clearer interface. Due to the way Turnitin is now integrated with LearnZone, assignments are now created in a pop-up window where you can customise the settings. Assignment “Parts” have been removed, meaning a separate submission link needs to be created for each part of the assignment.

Watch the video below to learn how to create assignments using the new version of Turnitin on LearnZone:

Detailed guides on how to create and mark Turnitin assessments in both LearnZone and Teams will be made available on StaffZone.
