Goodbye Flip

Microsoft has announced that after 12 years Flip (once known as Flipgrid) will be retired.

The website and mobile apps will become view-only from the 1st of July, and you will no longer be able to create new groups, topics or videos.

The website and apps will then fully retire on the 30th of September so you will have until then to download any or all of your videos.

What can I use now?

Never fear, Microsoft has moved some of the core Flip features into Teams. Currently, these are accessible through Assignments in a Class Teams. Here teachers can add a video recording and students can submit video recordings where the camera has built-in Flip features.

Microsoft also integrated a lot of the features into Stream as well.

How to download your videos

If you have used Flip with your students, we recommend downloading and storing all video submissions safely within a staff Teams site.
