Open source: refers to a computer program in which the source code is available to the general public for use and/or modification from its original design. Open source code is typically created as a collaborative effort in which programmers improve upon the code and share the changes within the community. As a development model open source promotes universal access via free license to a product’s design and free redistribution of that design, which includes any changes or improvements made to the original.
For example: an online course like on Learnzone might be open source, that would then be available to the public to edit, amend, repurpose and importantly, be tailored for different uses and audiences.
