On the 18th<\/sup> of May it was Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access\/inclusion. As Accessibility is such an important topic, we thought it was a perfect time to remind everyone about what they can do to help support their learners and how.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n

AI is a hot debate topic currently, with lots of news items and people across the sector talking about how it will impact Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (TLA). The college is aware that this may be causing concern for you and your learners and have formed a working group tasked with providing clear policies, training, and guidance.

1:1s to support your digital skills development<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Digital Learning Team are trialling 1:1 support sessions where staff can book a 30-minute meeting with either Kay, Dan or Jesse to support the development of their digital skills.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we are now in the thick of exam season and learners\u2019 revision is well underway, it may be worth getting students to utilise Quizlet. Quizlet\u2019s digital flashcards are a fantastic way to study and build up the memory of keywords and descriptions.

Digital Learning visit Nottingham College<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week we went to meet the digital team at Nottingham College and visit their fantastic new immersive room. They have just had it installed ready to start using with teachers and learners for some truly immersive learning. Using the room allows learners to gain a better understanding of what it will be like in a real work environments and situations.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During our visit we also had the opportunity to share the challenges and solutions of adopting new technologies such as AI, VR, and immersive online content. It is always a valuable experience to assess how Loughborough College\u2019s approach compares to other colleges across the sector when embracing new digital technologies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

VR in education<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of our continuing commitment to support the curriculum embedding digital technologies in TLA, the Digital Learning Team have been continuing to investigate the world of VR and researching apps that could be useful for teams.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you or your team are interested in how VR could be beneficial to teaching and learning or know of an app you want to try with your groups don\u2019t hesitate to get in contact, we can investigate the app and set up a practice session with teachers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
