{"id":3090,"date":"2014-10-23T10:36:10","date_gmt":"2014-10-23T10:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.loucoll.ac.uk\/learningtechnology\/?p=3090"},"modified":"2015-01-12T09:03:59","modified_gmt":"2015-01-12T09:03:59","slug":"looking-back-on-technology-celebration-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.loucoll.ac.uk\/learningtechnology\/2014\/10\/23\/looking-back-on-technology-celebration-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Roll up Roll up \u2013 Loughborough College Technology Celebration Day \u2013 what was it all about?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a flurry of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lBVPOmzudWQ\" target=\"_blank\">pick and mix<\/a> and fairground music, Loughborough College\u2019s 1st Technology Celebration Day was launched on the 17th October 2014, by Vice Principal Yiannis Koursis.<\/p>\n<p>The day was intended to provide a day of informal sharing, showcase ways of how to create impact with technology, to see how tutors are already using technology to engage students and to have some fun.<\/p>\n<p>Paul McKean, FE and skills customer advocate\u00a0from Jisc, inspired us in his keynote to rethink what we do with technology for teaching and learning and what student\u2019s current expectations are. <a href=\"https:\/\/lcap.loucoll.ac.uk\/ess\/echo\/presentation\/f19b432d-39da-470c-9260-db30ebb951fd\" target=\"_blank\">Watch Paul\u2019s full presentation here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The fairground stalls were hosted by our curriculum staff who are already using specific technologies and staff could drop in and out of these areas and get hints, tips and ideas on how to integrate these into their curriculum. <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/0B2jEcM5fFAW4TDltdGZGV05VbjQ\/view?pli=1\" target=\"_blank\">The full list of stalls that were available on the day can be seen here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The day was nicely covered by Laura Brodrick who sketched and captured thoughts and ideas in the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/a\/student.loucoll.ac.uk\/file\/d\/0B2jEcM5fFAW4NGdmdVVYQ0kybTg\/view?pli=1\" target=\"_blank\">keynote <\/a>and from <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/0B2jEcM5fFAW4d3ltaXJPUllxRk0\/view?pli=1\" target=\"_blank\">staff<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WrEzja9qJ9g\" target=\"_blank\">Watch the sketchnote develop here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, a great day was had by all. The feedback we have had so far indicates that staff were truly inspired by the day and are actively using the tools they saw on the day \u2013 more impact details to
