The size of uploaded images can quickly add up, making the presentation too large to submit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By compressing the images before submitting, students can significantly reduce the file size, making the upload process quicker and more reliable, and helping ensure a successful submission on the first try.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>To compress pictures in PowerPoint, follow the steps below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.loucoll.ac.uk\/learningtechnology\/files\/2025\/03\/Compress-Images-in-PowerPoint.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.loucoll.ac.uk\/learningtechnology\/files\/2025\/03\/Compress-Images-in-PowerPoint.gif\" alt=\"Gif going through the process of compressing pictures in a PowerPoint.\" class=\"wp-image-10456\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Open the PowerPoint in the desktop version (compress pictures in not available in the online version).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Select a picture on one of the slides.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.loucoll.ac.uk\/learningtechnology\/files\/2025\/03\/Compress-Images-icon.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"132\" height=\"27\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.loucoll.ac.uk\/learningtechnology\/files\/2025\/03\/Compress-Images-icon.png\" alt=\"Compress Picture Icon in PowerPoint\" class=\"wp-image-10457\" style=\"width:152px;height:auto\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>3. From the <strong>Picture Format<\/strong> tab on the toolbar, select <strong>Compress Pictures<\/strong> in the Adjust section.  This may appear as an icon and text or just the icon.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.loucoll.ac.uk\/learningtechnology\/files\/2025\/03\/Compress-Pictures-options.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"488\" height=\"430\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.loucoll.ac.uk\/learningtechnology\/files\/2025\/03\/Compress-Pictures-options.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10458\" style=\"width:279px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.loucoll.ac.uk\/learningtechnology\/files\/2025\/03\/Compress-Pictures-options.png 488w, https:\/\/blogs.loucoll.ac.uk\/learningtechnology\/files\/2025\/03\/Compress-Pictures-options-300x264.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 488px) 100vw, 488px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The Compress Pictures options pop-up window will open:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Under compression options, deselect <strong>Apply only to this picture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Under Resolution, select <strong>Email (96 ppi)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Select the <strong>Ok<\/strong> button. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the images in the PowerPoint will now be compressed. Save the document, and it will be ready to upload to Turnitin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructions on how to do this for students can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/helpdesk.loucoll.ac.uk\/knowledgebase\/compress-images-in-powerpoint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Helpdesk<\/a>.
