Role Models: MILO

Meet Milo,  a 22-year-old student from Nottingham who’s excelling in his sporting aspirations alongside that of his studies in Applied Sport and Exercise Science. Milo’s journey to Loughborough College is one of determination, perseverance, and a love for sport.

Milo was offered a scholarship to play basketball in the U.S. while studying for a bachelor’s degree. But with the pandemic forcing him back to the U.K., Milo had to find new opportunities to study and play high-level basketball. That’s when he learned about the partnership between Loughborough Sport and Loughborough College, which allowed him to study the course he wanted while also playing basketball.

“I love that I can make relationships with my lecturers and staff members”

“I choose to study at the college due to the partnership with Loughborough University that allowed me to earn a Sport and Exercise science degree from a top university,” says Milo. “The flexibility the college has for student-athletes was very appealing to me.”

Since joining Loughborough College, Milo has been able to balance his basketball commitments with the demands of his degree, all while having access to elite facilities and coaching. He’s also been able to form strong relationships with his lecturers and staff, thanks to the smaller class sizes.

Milo’s experience at Loughborough College has taught him that he’s more academic than he gives himself credit for. And his aspirations for the future? To play professional basketball and use the sport to help him complete a master’s degree.

“I have really enjoyed my time at the college so far,” says Milo. “I love that I can make relationships with my lecturers and staff members due to having smaller classes. The tutors have been a huge help to me academically, especially this year.”

Milo sums up his experience at Loughborough College as “challenging but enjoyable and really fun.” If you’re an athlete looking to continue your education, consider following in Milo’s footsteps and discover the opportunities available at Loughborough College.
