ENTERPRISE APPEAL AT COLLEGE FRESHERS FAIR

    October 2nd, 2012

IT was breathing space only at Loughborough College this morning (October 2)  as students flocked to the  annual Freshers Fair.

Information may have been the main order of the day as societies queued up to hand out details about how go get involved with Loughborough Students’ Union but fun was on the menu, too, through the gravity-resisting challenge of the Bucking Bronco.

Among the worthy organisations looking for more support was the College’s Social Enterprise team, as secretary Bethany Harrold explained.

“Our mission is to raise money and create links with young people in Malawi – and we desperately need more people on board,” she said. “There’s currently just five of us working on the project and we need to ensure it continues after the present team leaves College.”

She added that they were seeking to contact local schools and encourage communication between them and their counterparts in the poverty-stricken country. The social enterprise team is looking to visit Malawi themselves but concedes this may not be possible unless they attract more support.”

The team picked up a good number of contacts from students wishing to know more during the Fair and will be following these up in coming weeks.
