TOMMY CATCHES UP WITH CLASS OF 2012

February 21st, 2012

COLLEGE sports ambassador Tommy Godwin was at the Olympic Velodrome at the weekend to see Britain’s present day’s cyclists tune up for their big summer test in fine style.

Sir Chris Hoy secured two out of Britain’s four gold medals in the 10 Olympic events at a World Cup meeting – the others coming from the women’s team pursuit and team sprint riders. There was also a silver in the men’s team pursuit and bronze in the men’s team sprint and for Laura Trott in the women’s omnium.

The evergreen 91-year-old, who has been promised a special job by Lord Sebastian Coe at this summer’s Games, showed the crowd his bronze medals from 1948 – in the team pursuit and time trial – before the start of Sunday’s sprint final.
